Hello again! Thank you for staying with me and my very sporadic posts!! This blog has really fallen to the back burner for me a lot in the last six months, but don’t worry I haven’t forgotten about it. I do still have a lot of great ideas spinning around in my mind. In fact, I whipped up a healthy treat this morning that was certainly blog worthy, so I made sure to share this with you today! This past…
It’s finally summer time! At our house that means easy mornings, sunny afternoon picnics, likely a camping trip or two, and a visit to Cape Breton! I can’t believe we are days away from July already. This year is flying by at record speed. Mairead graduated from Kindergarten and is heading to grade 1 in September. It will be a big change for her being full days at school and a big change for all of us because this Mama…
With only 2 days of school for Mairead this week (crazy town) we are gearing up to spend lots of time playing outside! Aaron built a snow fort for Mairead last weekend that comes complete with three doors and tunnels to crawl through! Luckiest kid on the block. Because of our -30 climate we’ve been stuck indoors a lot lately and some days, it takes more time to get Mai bundled up in her snow gear than she actually spends outside,…
My daughter has just recently discovered Kraft peanut butter* and I am one pb&j sandwich away from developing a 12-step program to get her off the stuff. She begs for it at breakfast every morning and literally vibrates when she sees it. For years now I’ve only been buying natural peanut butter because I love it and it’s healthier. Then while grocery shopping last week Mairead asked if we could try the stuff with the bear on it. My mother always…
I just finished flipping through the Restoration Hardware catalog; anyone who has me on their gift list this holiday, this is a good place to start 😉 Love that place! The last 2 weeks have been a hectic shit show and I am ready for a loooong break…whatever that looks like. Luckily Mairead had a day off from school today so we had a quiet day inside and I soaked up every minute of this easy day. But it’s Christmastime and…
Oh my God, Christmas is 5 weeks away! How did that even happen?!! I spent my week visiting daycares (the horror!) writing cover letters, writing Christmas lists, and attempting Christmas shopping a few times only to pick items up, walk around the store with them, put them back and leave empty-handed. Usually, I am excited about the Chrismas prep gong show but this year I’m feeling a little less enthused. I feel guilty saying that…I’m sure once we get our…
Yesterday Mairead and I went to the Remembrance Day service here in Fort Saskatchewan. Despite bundling her up in all of her snow gear, she complained loudly the entire time. Suck it up kiddo, people died so you could stand there and complain. Ooh, harsh. It was pretty cold though and we were both pretty eager to stop for hot chocolate on the drive home! I have attended Remembrance Day services as long as I can remember and I really believe it’s important (maybe now…
Like summer, fall is flying by! Halloween is less than a week away, I can’t believe it. And as if it were some cruel joke, Mairead doesn’t have school the next day…..let me paint a picture for you…..my house full of the neighbourhood kids all hyped up on Halloween candy. *shudder* Hello no! I think we’ll plan a Mommy and daughter outing for that day. I volunteered on a class trip with Mairead’s class last week and again in her classroom this week…
Here we are almost at Thanksgiving weekend already. Crazy! I feel like it came out of nowhere this year. Normally, my cousin Janna hosts Thanksgiving dinner at her house and we do Christmas dinner at ours. But with so many of the crew having to work this weekend we’re going to do a small feast at our house with our kids and I’ll have a plate waiting for Aaron when he gets home from work. He and I were just…
Happy fall! Crisp mornings and sweater scarves are in full swing around here already. Although getting my daughter to wear pants and long sleeves in place of her summer dresses has been a battle I just can’t win! We look ridiculous going places together while I am bundled up in layers and Mairead is still sporting flip-flops and shorts. I thought it was only teenagers who didn’t get cold 😉 We started this week off by hitting the snooze button…
