A short conversation with my (almost) 3 year old:
Me: “Mai, what do you want to be when you grow up?”
Mairead: “You.”
Me: ***heart melting*** “Awe!”
Mairead: “Or a marshmallow.”
When Mairead was born I couldn’t imagine what she would be like by the time she turned 3 years old. It was hard to see past the diapers and swaddling blankets, yet here we are elbow deep in potty training, time outs and temper tantrums. And I wouldn’t change a thing. I cherish these days at home with my sweet girl more than she’ll ever know. I feel incredibly overwhelmed in our pathetic fast paced lives that leaves so little time for the ones we love. My boyfriend has to work such long hours that he goes several days in a row on a regular basis without getting to spend time with our daughter and it wears on the both of them. We all need to take a step back from time to time. There is really nothing specific about this post other than a simple reminder to stop what you’re doing for a minute and go give your little ones (or big ones) a great big hug and tell them what you love about them. It will be the most important thing you do all day.
