Strawberry shortcake is something we ate in my grandmother’s kitchen a lot growing up. I’ve had many different styles of this dessert over the years but I always find myself going back to this one. I’m a rebel like that. I normally love cake but for some reason strawberries and whipped cream on a warm homemade biscuit just has Gammie’s kitchen written all over it. It’s one of those things you don’t mess with. Mairead has been asking me for the last week to make her some biscuits so I whipped up a batch of my Mom’s recipe. I grew up on these biscuits and there are no better! I vividly remember coming home from school and finding a batch fresh from the oven, slathering it in butter and shoving them in my face. Just the thought is making my mouth water. I don’t know why I have such a hard time making a good biscuit and it took a few trials before they turned out edible but I think I got it!
